The "Thüringer Waldautobahn"
This motorway (A71/A73) is with 24 million DM for each kilometer by far the most expensive road ever being built in Germany - an in some parts 130 meters wide and even in Thüringen 164 kilometers long deadly strip, for which 114000 sq. metres land and forest will be bulldozed, covered with concrete and 160 bridges and tunnels will be built. The resulting damage for humans and wildlife due to the construction (destruction of important living-spaces and structures), the increasing emissions due to an increasing traffic volume and the destruction of the local economy due to simplified and cheap access to regional resources and markets for western-european companies are permanent and not repairable.
